Our Story
The World Economic Forum has identified creative & critical thinking as one of the top 21 century skills our children need to compete in the future workplace. However, our educational system does not support these crucial skills. This inspired us to establish The Alchemist Lab in 2012, because a good education is not about memorizing facts, it is about training the mind to think.
Through hands on STEAM workshops, clubs, camps, and school discovery trips, we build children’s capacity and not only children we also train teachers. But our challenge has another layer, at the age of 15 girls outscore boys in STEM topics, however, their participation in STEM careers is less than 30 %. So, in 2015, we launched GO girls; a program that is designed specifically for girls in villages and less fortunate areas. We train girls on scientific methodology and we highlight STEAM women role models to inspire them towards STEM careers. To date, we have reached more than 41 thousand girls and boys in Jordan with optimistic plans to reach more in the Middle East. In the Middle East, people dream that the future will hold fewer challenges. But in reality, Political, Social, and Economic challenges are increasing. We believe the solution is a generation of children with the resilience to manage a challenging future; young people who finish school ready to solve whatever problems they face; personal problems, community problems, regional problems, even global problems. Just imagine a world like that! |
